Health benefits Bath v Shower ?!

Question: Health benefits Bath v Shower ?
I have wondered for some time that weather there is an health advantage from having a bath or shower.
if you take the shower you are washing of the dirt and rinsing.
If you are having a bath you are soaking in your own dirt HOWEVER

They say if you were to ly in a bath full of alcohol you would - over 24hrs I think absorb the alcohol through the skin.
So If you have say a 20 minute Bath you are indeed cleansing/soaking the pores of the skin therefore this must healthy.
I guess this does not happen when you Shower as you just rinse of the water ?
What you think

Answers:

In Japan, they shower first and then soak in the bath so they're already clean. It's an interesting thing, but I think it makes a lot of sense because of the benefits that there *are* from soaking in a bath

I've been to Japan

You are assuming that soaking in water for 20 minutes is good for you. Cleaning toxins off your skin is good, but your skin is an organ that pushes toxins outwards (ie. sweat, dead skin), and therefore only the outer layer needs cleaning. As well, water is not just H20, but many other things that are not necessarily great for you to take in through osmosis. If we were meant to spend a lot of time in water, we would have scales or crocodile skin.

I do think bathing is the better way. I can't prove this but bathing means the body absorbs some of the water, or at least the skin does. Surely this must help with hydration vs dehydration.
I agree with the soaking of the skin to release dirt from pores. Yet who can afford that amount of water today?

A bath can be relaxing occassionally, especially if you put some oil or sea salts or something good for your skin in it. Once you are done with the bath, take a shower. That's what I do.

Lying in a hot bath actually dries out your skin, but a quick dip is fine - and as you say, rinse off quickly with the shower after.

taking a shower is better. you don't have to rinse off with dirty water and taking long baths isn't good for your skin.
