Suck on a piece of clove.
Eat some almonds, a banana or watermelon.
Slice a lemon, put salt on it and suck on it.
Add 1 Tbsp of Baking Soda to a glass of water and drink.
Chew Bubble Gum.

Baking Soda
Baking soda is a natural antacid. If you dissolve a teaspoon of baking soda in 8 ounces of water, it can neutralize acid and temporarily alleviate heartburn caused by acid reflux. There are some drawbacks, however, to this. When you add baking soda to water, it releases carbon dioxide. That's what causes the fizz that helps you to burp and relieve bloating.
DGL
Deglycyrrhizinated licorice (DGL) is another remedy used for heartburn. It is available in chewable tablets or capsules you can break open and dissolve in water. You should not use DGL if you have been diagnosed with hypertension and/or are receiving treatment for hypertension.
Bananas
Bananas act as a natural antacid in the body. You can eat either fresh or dried bananas.
Chamomile Tea
Chamomile has been used to help neutralize stomach acid. It is also used by people as a stress reliever.
Apple Cider Vinegar
People have reported that natural apple cider vinegar works for them. Apple cider vinegar can be taken in tablet, capsule, or liquid form.
Ginger
Fresh ginger is one of the oldest remedies for heartburn. It is also used to help treat nausea. Ginger can be added to food when it's cooked, eaten raw, or consumed as ginger tea.
Turmeric
Turmeric helps stimulate digestion and prevent acid build-up. Turmeric is used in curried foods. If you don't want to use turmeric in your cooking, it is available in capsule form and can be taken before meals.
Aloe Vera Juice
The juice from the aloe vera plant has been used to soothe an irritated esophagus. Aloe vera juice has a long history of use in Europe as a natural home remedy to relieve heartburn.

Heartburn is usually caused by having too little stomach acid, not too much (sounds paradoxical but it's true). Over time lots of people destroy their stomach acid quality by eating too much sugar, or by taking prescription drugs.

The correct treatment for heartburn begins before you eat.

30 minutes before eating, drink 8 oz of water. Dissolve 1/8 tsp of salt on your tongue. Follow with another 8 oz of water.

Repeat this 2 - 2 1/2 hours after eating to complete the digestion process.

What's happening is, the body uses hydrochloric acid to break down and process the food. Without protection, this acid backs up into your esophagus and causes the familiar burning sensation. Over time, this could damage the lining of the stomach, causing ulcers or maybe esophageal cancer.

Drinking water 30 minutes before eating allows the body to absorb the water and salt so it can be released at the proper time to act as a buffer against the hydrochloric acid.

On the theory that heartburn is caused by too little acid, I wonder how an "antacid" (anti-acid - aka "acid remover") works if there isn't enough acid to begin with?

Neutralizing the acid can't possibly work, because the stomach needs the hydrochloric acid to break down and process the food. Water and salt taken 30 minutes before eating doesn't neutralize the acid. It creates a buffer between the acid and the lining of the stomach so that the burning effects of the acid don't damage the stomach. The water also helps the acid break down the food.

Apple Cider vinegar is one of my favorites. Although acidic at first, it is highly Alkaline and does wonders to your stomach. Avoid NSAIDS non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. They cause peptic ulcers and upset your the stomach even more. Everyone gets occasional heartburn but check with your physician if you have G.E.R.D (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) or also know as acid reflux. Bananas are a natural antacid as well. But if you have any of these in your kitchen take this... Alkaseltzer, avocados, (are very alkaline) Almonds, Cashews, Walnuts, Baking Soda, Oats, Gruel (oatmeal water) Brown rice, Quinoa, sprouted bread, Apples if nice and sweet and not too acidic such as Washington and Gala. Honey is always soothing to the stomach and helps relieve the stomach ans fights infection too. Sugarless gum is BAD. It has Sorbitol and/or Aspartame or Sucralose and that is bad for upset stomach. Unless you can find low real sugar gum not made of sugar alcohol like the others that claim to be sugar free but have chemicals like I mentioned. Think of the foods that makes you salivate the most and eat that. As long as it is not acidic nor fried. Steam some light vegetables like green beans and baby carrots these are veggies that don't produce as much gas. Believe it or not there is "beneficial candy" that can help regulate your peptides and digestive enzymes such as raisins, craisins, natural caramel maybe a PayDay, maybe marshmallows and chocolate too, mustard pretzels, bagels, and as crazy as it sounds Movie theater candy can be good for you too. I like the chocolate covered raisins! So as long as you are not allergic to any of those ingredients.

I've heard of looking up while doing a pull-up helps while swallowing lemon syrup...

Whatever works but be safe!!!

Natural home remedies

When you have heartburn, it's best not to lie down. The backflow of stomach acid into the esophagus increases when you lie on your right side, so if you have to lie down, stay on your left side. If that doesn't work, stay on your feet and try one of the following remedies
.

* Eat six blanched almonds. Chew each one at least 30 times.
* Eat a slice of raw potato.
* Mix 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and 1 tablespoon of honey into a cup of warm water. Stir and drink.
* Grate a raw potato and put it in cheese-cloth. Squeeze out the juice in a glass. Add twice the amount of warm water as potato juice and drink it down.
* Drink a teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water for immediate relief.
* Peel and eat a raw carrot. Chew each bite 30 times.
* Take cayenne, comfrey, pepsin, or thyme.

Lemon Aid

* If you have heartburn from eating something sweet, squeeze the juice from half a lemon into a cup of warm water. Add ? teaspoon of salt and drink it slowly.
* Keep chewable papaya tablets with you and, at the first sign of heartburn or any kind of indigestion, pop papaya pills in your mouth, chew and swallow.
* A cup of peppermint tea has been known to relieve the discomfort of heartburn. It helps relieve gas, too.
* Eat 1 teaspoon of gomasio (sesame seeds and sea salt, available at health food stores). Chew thoroughly before swallowing.

Be a Flake!

* This may not be too appetizing, but it works -swallow a teaspoon or two of uncooked oat flakes, after chewing thoroughly.
* The flow of saliva can neutralize the stomach acids that slosh up and cause heartburn.

According to the late Wylie J. Dodds, MD, who was a professor of radiology and medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, chewing gum (we suggest sugarless) can increase the production of saliva eight or nine times, and reduce the damage caused by stomach acids.
