Ear plugged with fluid from a nasty cold?!

Question: Ear plugged with fluid from a nasty cold?
Every time I geta cold I get fluid in my ears and can't get it out. This time is the worst. In my right ear, I can't hear anything because it's plugged with fluid. I am taking sudafed to try and dry it up. My nose us running like crazy and I am blowing out a lot of thick snot. It this good that I am blowing out a lot of snot? What else can I do?

Answers:

Drink plenty of fluids so that your body can continue to flush your sinuses. Sleep elevated to allow your ears to continue to drain. Keep blowing your nose to expel the fluid. Clogged sinuses are a breeding ground for bacteria. To help avoid infection, flush your sinuses with a Neti pot.

Make sure you're getting enough vitamin D and C.

If you experience ear pain, develop a fever, or don't get better in a week, it may be time to see the doctor.

Nasal irrigation is good. A lot of people use netti pots for nasal irrigation. There is a new products out that is supposed to do the same thing it's called nasalzyme.
