How can magnets help blood flow?!

Question: How can magnets help blood flow?
I went to this one natural store and the lady was selling magnetic bracelets

They are bracelets with small magnets at the bottom and apparently they help the blood somehow.

Can anyone explain how do these things help? O_o

Quite simply, they can't.

I've heard different explanations on how it is supposed to happen, the most common one being that the iron in your red blood cells is attracted to the magnet and so blood flow is directed to that area. That is just silly.
First, the type of iron in hemoglobin is non-ferrous (ie non-magnetic)
Second, mostly these things are sold as bracelets or shoe inserts, but yet the claim is made that they can help with pain in other parts of the body.
Third, these are tiny static (as opposed to dynamic) magnets...similar to your basic fridge magnet. They are extremely weak (field strength maybe a few hundred gauss), and the magnetic field drops off quite quickly within a couple of milimeters (based on the inverse square law of electromagnetism) See how many sheets of paper a standard fridge magnet can hold.(maybe 10 if you have a large magnet)...then notice how much thicker the skin is than 10 sheets of paper.
Fourth, there are powerful magnets in MRI machines, with field strengths up to 20,000 Gauss, and no reports of anyone getting an MRI being cured of pain.

Bottom line, it is a complete scam. People anecdotally reporting they "feel better" are responding to the placebo effect. They have been scientifically investigated many times....actually the first investigation was conducted by Ben Franklin (and others) regarding Mesmer's magnetic therapy in France in the 18th century.

No, nobody can explain it. Not only can they not explain it but they can't demonstrate clinically that it works. By the way, the magnets were manufactured. That means they aren't natural.

Magnetism has been lauded for an amazing number of things from producing trance states by Mesmer to curing everything including the gout. Do a bit of research on line and you will be amazed at how long this has been going on.

A large number of people swear that magnets have cured their rheumatism and other aches and pains. It just goes to show that some people will get better from anything.

To put it quite simply, they don't. There's no way for low grade magnets strapped around your wrist to aid you overall blood flow, so save your money and skip getting a pair.

They don't but it is obvious they can sell anything ridiculous thing if they try hard enough.

Nobody can explain it, because it's not true they do anything

They don't.
