I am thinking of becoming a Doctor, how would I do that?!

Question: I am thinking of becoming a Doctor, how would I do that?
I'm still in highschool and am considering training to be a doctor and them moving to a Spanish speaking country (since I'm learning Spanish) to practice there. Is there some way I could be hired by an organization like Red Cross or something to help people in a foreign country? And as far as college and experience goes, what would I have to do to be qualified to be hired by an organization like that? Also, would I need to specialize? Maybe train to be a Paramedic? Or a Pediatrician?

You would do it the same way every other doctor does it.....do very well in the sciences, the maths; get into a good school and study the sciences if you want a leg up to get into med school after a four year degree.

The one organization through which more doctors volunteer than any other is actually French - Doctors without Borders aka Medicines sans Frontiers prefers doctors that can speak French, but Spanish is never going to hurt you. And no, you don't have to be a Doctor to work with MSF

More info is about 2/3 of the way down the page....

First, your school guidance/career counsellor should have information about admission requirements to medical schools. Hopefully you are taking all the sciences in high school and doing well in them.
In the US and Canada, there are some variations in med school requirement but generally they want to see someone well schooled in basic sciences.

These days they also like to take students who are more well rounded, not just book worms, and being involved in sports, volunteer work and other extra curicular activity is looked at. Most med schools still require you to write the MCAT (Medical College Admissions Test) though that is starting to change. In any case, you will need to get an undergraduate degree of some sort before you apply to med school. For the most part it should be a BSc, but they do take some BA students these days as well.

A second language will be helpful no matter what you do with your life. It's far too early to be deciding on what type of doctor you want to be, and most people change their minds several times.
You are just in high school now, so you have lots of time, and lots of work ahead of you, but it is good to have long term plans and goals.

Paramedic training is completely different, they aren't doctors, but they are first responders with some assessment and stabilization skills.

If you mean "Medical Physician" I suggest you go to medical school.
Otherwise if you want to be a real doctor go to uni complete an undergrad degree, complete an MSc and then complete a PHd.

You could always become a physio-therapist, Chiropractor, Osteopath, Podiatrist etc and use the non protected title "Doctor".

A paramedic is not a medical physician. A paediatrician is.
Do a little more research, find out what interests you and then contact some organisations that employ any of these specialisms. they will tell you what you need to do to become one.

you need college and then medical school and more to be a doctor.

A paramedic is not a doctor.
A pediatrician is a childrens doctor.
You might want to investigate a group called doctors without borders.

the Red Cross is a bit of a funny organization to work for, they are more of an umbrella legislative authority leaving individual countries/regions to do their own thing.

Try medecins sans frontieres if you want to volunteer once you are qualified.
