Can I break it in half to lower my chances of groggy feelings?!

Question: Can I break it in half to lower my chances of groggy feelings?
I have been prescribed with Zyprexa. I am to take 5mg at bedtime. However I am afraid to take it. I only get 5 maybe 6 hours of sleep at night because I have 3 children plus I get up at 3:30 to deliver newspapers. I'm afraid I will wake up groggy and not be able to preform well on my job. Can I break it in half? This way if there is a groggy effect when I wake up it will not be that bad?

These are questions that you should have asked the doctor who prescribed the medicine, or the pharmacist who dispensed the medicine. Everyone has different reactions to a medicine, especially when they first start taking it. What has an effect on one person, may not even bother the next guy. The effects of this medicine may also depend on any other medicine(s) you're already taking. Look on the pharmacy label to see if there's a phone number to call for a consultation. There should be an information sheet about this medicine included with the prescription. Read the possible side effects in this literature. The next time you have a prescription filled, and the pharmacist asks if you have any questions, ask them at that time before you sign the paper that says the pharmacist has asked if you have any questions about the drug(s).

Just my opinion.

Zyprexa tablets can be spit in half with a pill cutter / splitter.

If you are taking the resolvable wafers called Zyprexa Zydis, then you cannot split them in half.

How is it working for you? I'm looking for a sleep aid, that's side effects aren't too bad. Sorry, off topic - sort of.

And yeah, try it.
