Any alternative cure for Social Phobia? The Medical cure did not help?!

Question: Any alternative cure for Social Phobia? The Medical cure did not help?
I went through Medication for full 8 month but the result was disappointing, I am still suffering from the same syndromes (like nose sweating and red face) specially in the very important meetings.
Please help me to find a real cure for this issue, I am a middle level manager and my career is on danger because of this psychological issue.

Note: I took as a medication "Zoloft" + "Anderal" in different doses according to my psychiatrist prescriptions.

Kinds and Regards,

Tim

Hi Tim,

There is no medication that can cure this as it's an emotional issue. All you can do is mask the symptoms and some of the suggestions you've alreayd received are good. You caould also try Valerian, which works wonderfully. People seem to differ as to what works best, so try a few and see which helps.

The one benefit big benefit of using these treatements is that it may help you calm down sufficiently to find the source of your anxiety in social situations. There is likely a stored memory from childhood that will be the key to where your anxiety comes from - probably something that has authority figures being very powerful maybe making you feel very small and powerless, or punishing you for speaking up. Try a good counsellor (I would advise someone who understands mirroring). Once you find the source, you can work to reduce or eliminate its impact on you as an adult. And this really is the only cure.

You could also spend some time before each meeting visualising some of the people who will be there doing ordinary things like blowing their nose, having their teeth cleaned at the dentist - things that reinforce that they are only people, just like you.

In the meantime, good luck!

I would recommend stress spray which has a calming effect in stressful and anxious situations. I personally found this to be very effective as have many others. Two products highly recommended - brauer's nervatona calm and bach's rescue remedy. I personally prefer under the tongue spray form and i found it took about 3 minutes to take effect. I did use more than recommended when needed but there are no adverse side effects...please note: too much may make you too calm! lol. As these products are very cheap, it is worth trying out. I purchased mine for $10 Australian and used it for 5 months. I would also recommend taking a good vitamin B complex. Research shows low levels of essential B vitamins such as B6, B9 and B12 may contribute to poor mood and feelings related to anxiety and depression. See the links for more information.

Each morning on an empty stomach, sit cross legged on a woollen mat placed flat on the floor,in an open space with a lot of greenery around..Close your eyes and inhale deeply with your nostrils, such that your stomach swells with inhaled air. Then exhale through nostrils only, keeping your mouth sealed. As you exhale, your stomach should sink in,as it's emptying itself of the inhaled air.Do this exercise 20 times in the beginning

Also,do daily meditation. It'll make you a lot calmer

You could try acupuncture. In Chinese medicine, fear is considered an imbalance in the Water Element and Kidney Deficiency generally.
