Is muscle memory true?!

Question: Is muscle memory true?
I'm currently 18 years of age, I use to exercise alot during the past 2 years and I actually got to the point were I could bench press 215lbs naturally. But over the course of 6 months I was unable to attend the gym and as such has lost a tremendous amount of muscle mass. Very soon I wil be able to go back to the gym, but during my leisure time I remember hearing or reading muscle memory; could this be what it seems to be, that your muscle can grow back faster because of prior growth?

Answers:

Muscle memory is not connected with growth. The example I'll give you will be with playing billiards or pool. When you use your arms with the cue stick to hit the cue ball in certain angles and with certain amount of power your brain memories that particular state. So next time when you want to do the exact same shot it's a bit easier because your muscles remember kind of what they need to do.
I don't think it works this way with growing though, it would entirely depend on your genetics and body.

If I understand you correctly, no, muscle memory does not relate to the size or growth of muscle.
Muscle memory is a muscle group task that requires no real conscious input from your brain. It's a combination of muscle movement and force to complete a task without thinking about it. This is usually obtained through lots of practice.
