Is it scientifically possible to make a cure for the Common Cold?!

Question: Is it scientifically possible to make a cure for the Common Cold?
I have a cold right now ='(

Answers:

Researchers have mapped the genome for all known virus strains that cause the common cold, so that is a promising step. A newly developed drug presently known as BTA798 targets rhinovirus and is currenlty in clinical trials. Antivirals are being developed for the picornaviruse which is the cause of most of common colds.

A recent discovery that is very promising:
"In a dramatic breakthrough that could affect millions of lives, scientists have been able to show for the first time that the body's immune defences can destroy the common cold virus after it has actually invaded the inner sanctum of a human cell, a feat that was believed until now to be impossible.

The discovery opens the door to the development of a new class of antiviral drugs that work by enhancing this natural virus-killing machinery of the cell. Scientists believe the first clinical trials of new drugs based on the findings could begin within two to five years."

So, medical science is getting there. Hopefully we'll be able to beat the common cold within the next few years. It's sad to see how alternative medicine struggles along with their vitamins and herbal remedies....

EDIT: @Mr E, so how does 'correcting nerve interference' (and you are meaning chiropractic adjustment) prevent someone from being infected by a cold virus? Show us your evidence please.

i woke up this morning feeling a little under the weather, so i know tomorrow will be a bad day for me myself. unfortunately no, a cold is the way the body's defense mechanism copes with fighting off viruses...so if we don't get colds, our bodies are not fighting off germs, which can put us in a really bad position in the long run

No one can say that. I bet when people were first trying to find a treatment to help cure cancer people said it was impossible. But look at what we are capable of now. We have a shot that helps prevent cervical cancer. So anything is possible.

There is still no cure for the common cold but sooner or later there will be.

You can't cure the common cold by a massage as Mr E suggests. Any future cure will come from medical science, not a massage.

medical "science" has cured nothing. the best approach is prevention by correcting nerve interference, eating properly, and staying away from drugs.

You mean a permanent cure aka vaccine, then no,not in this decade atleast.

Cold virus,you suck big time.
