make the manufacturer richer.

The traditional home cooked Indian food contains all the vitamins needed for a person's body. The problem comes with the present lifestyle where most of us have nuclear families or eat out. In such cases, it is very important to have wholesome foods which includes green vegetables, carbs, proteins and a lot of vitamin rich diet.

Taking Vitamin C is very beneficial for the following reasons.

1. Encourages hair growth, healthier skin
2. Improves immunity, thus helping us fight small infections like cold, cough, etc. and helps you stay healthy
3. Aids in maintaining stronger bones, muscles, blood vessels, etc.
4. Fights tooth decay, encourages healthier gums and oral hygiene

Over doing it isn't a good option too. Try having foods rich in vitamin C than chewable tablets.

Take vitamin C in an esterified form. This form is absorbed into your blood and tissues about four times faster than regular vitamin C, and the body seems to use it more efficiently. It is also nonacidic, so it is tolerated better by those with sensitive stomachs.

2
Divide your doses. More frequent doses will supply a continuous amount to your body. High doses of vitamin C can cause diarrhea and irritate the digestive tract; dividing doses helps avoid these symptoms.

3
Take vitamin C with a bioflavonoid complex. This will enhance the absorption of vitamin C.

4
Take vitamin C with vitamins E and A. They work synergistically, which means they are more effective when taken together than when taken separately.

5
Quit smoking or cut back on cigarette use. Smoking depletes your body of vitamin C.

6
Check your medications. Many can reduce levels of vitamin C in your body. If you take oral contraceptives, steroids, analgesics or antidepressants, you may need to take more vitamin C. Discuss it with your health care practitioner.

7
Reduce alcohol consumption if you are a heavy drinker. Alcohol depletes your body of vitamin C.

Vitamin C works much better when taken with a calcium supplement as well.

Yes, it is good for the skin and hair, but taken with calcium, it helps absorption and also helps your bones (especially important if you are female).

Also, vitamin C boosts your immunity, and my kids have never been to the doctor other than for their yearly physicals and I credit that to their daily vitamin (multi) and the extra vitamin C I give them.

oh dear , please dont go for anytype of artificial suppliment. Aonla having much amount of vitamin-c (almost 400 -500 mg.). Citrus fruits also having a good amount of vit. c. Pl. try natural things. Natures provides us everything then why not to go with the nature.
pl.one thing always keep in mind, any artificial or preserved thing has some side effect.
so return to nature. good luck.

it depends, are you not getting vitamin-C from your diet? if not then by all means take them, but don't fall into the bad logic that just because your body uses vitamin-C for certain things doesn't mean it will use more of it if you take more.

Vitamin C is only beneficial if your body is lacking it. There is no good evidence that taking routine Vitamin C is of any therapeutic value. Even then chewable kind...

They are good for hair, skin and nails. Vitamin C also boosts your immune system, so it helps you get better when you are sick and helps you keep from getting sick.
