Whats the timescale of healing damaged fingers?!

Question: Whats the timescale of healing damaged fingers?
I damaged my little finger playing cricket in Aug 2010.It instantly bruised and swelled up on the middle joint of the finger.Thinking its only a finger-continued to finish season. Before i knew it 3 months had passed and presumed it must be nearly healed so didnt go to docs! Its now 5 months and still painful-although no bruising just a red area around knuckle on the inside of finger and slight swelling.I can bend it so presume its not dislocated-is it now time to go see someone or do they genuinely take this long to heal?

It sounds like you have some severe inflammation going on. It should have healed in 4-6 weeks. Acupuncture might help but yet on the other hand I would see what a doctor tells you or what an x-ray may find. Then explore what treatment method you want to go with.

You need to get it looked out and maybe an x-ray and put in a splint...serious recommend this!

Normally injuries like that take up to 6 weeks to fully heal depending what they find. It could be shorter.

I broke my finger playing softball years ago. I just thought I hurt it and went two weeks and finally my parents took me to the doctor and they told me if I waited longer my finger would have been crooked and surgery would have to be performed to repair it. That is why I suggest going to a doctor.

After you have it looked at by an MD, go to an acupuncturist to increase the circulation and speed up the healing time. With acupuncture, you will still be looking at a number of months for healing; without, it may be an issue for a long time.
