How long would you be in the hospital after an overdose? 10 points?!

Question: How long would you be in the hospital after an overdose? 10 points?
Don't worry, I'm not asking about me. I'm writing a book about a girl named Sam Fox, who is the 17/18 year old lead singer and guitarist of the band Uncontrolled. Her band mates, along with the rest of the world, have just found out about her relationship with the bassist, Thomas Jett after they were caught by the media kissing.

Anyway Sam gets depressed due to the anger from the others in her band so she grabs a bottle of tequila and overdoses.

I haven't decided on which drug yet, it will be based on the time she's in the hospital. My ideas....

-Run of the mill ibuprofen she downs most of the bottle.
-Prescription sleep meds
-Prescription pain killers i.e oxycontin

So how long would she be in the hospital after an overdoes of the above? Thanks!!

Answers:

It really all depends on how much has taken. A member of my family has had many overdoses due to her severe depression. She has been in the hospital from anything to 5 days just to have her stomach pumped and just to make sure she's not suffering any side effects, to up to 2 months. She's usually in there for 4-6 weeks at a time though.

alot of ppl OD on benzos like xanax where itll take about two hours to slip into a colma for days/weeks

alcohol poisoning will buy this character an over night stay in intensive care, possibly on life support depending if the airway has become compromised.IV line will be started & fluids given to assist flushing the alcohol out. The hospital stay depends on other factors as well, are there pre existing health issues, bad lungs from smoking meth or cigarettes? if so weaning from a ventilator may require a bit longer. If there is vomit in the lungs and thus a chemical pneumonia..even longer stay. But if its an uncomplicated case of acute alcohol poisoning...a night in ICU then off to the regular floor perhaps an observation unit, a psych. evaluation, possible 5150 hold...or just go home in a few days. If other drugs are involved this could completely change the course of hospitalization.
Attempted sucide will be an automatic psychiatriac hold and upon discharge, they shoot over to a Psych facility and stay there until $ runs out. If all goes well could be a month or 2 from the time she is admitted to the hospital.

Ibuprofen OD can cause organ failure. Liver involvement shutting it down, then the kidneys, then the Gut, internal bleeding.ewwwe.irreversible of discovered late.
Sleeping pills, will stop the breathing. death. or brain death if found early.
oxycontin. . .death. it supresses the respiratory center of the brain. wont make it to a hospital.
So U better write another story. because it ended.
over kill with what was ingested. Your character is a foolish one. did she do this because she is hurting and wanting to end it? or because she is being controlling & manipulating someone else with her threats? or just plain ignorant?
