No, if you want to wake up from the anesthesia!

If you show up drunk, your surgery will be canceled.

Alcohol interacts with what we use in anesthesia, and it makes it more likely that you will inhale your vomit (decreased gastric emptying plus decreased lower esophageal sphincter tone = bad things), and those effects can persist even after most of the alcohol is out of your system.

Try to give it a few days between drinking and surgery, if you can go that long.

(Yes, we take care of drunk accident victims, but they are at MUCH higher risk, and we do things to them that we might not do otherwise to reduce that risk. Things that can be unpleasant.)

I'm an anesthesiologist.

you're not supposed to have any fluids or solids (ie, food or drink), usually up to 8 hours before going under GA. they tell you to stop eating and drinking at midnight the night before surgery. so, no.

worked in an OR

Well, more than one person has been drunk and in an accident and had to have surgery. However, being drunk or having anything in yer stomach makes it much harder for them to keep you alive.

Not something you should do... for I have heard of cases where the patient went into a permanent coma. The anesthesiologist can refuse to give you medication and charge you for their time.

You can if you want to increase the risk of death
