NEED HELP WITH PEPTO?!

Question: NEED HELP WITH PEPTO?
so i found these pepto bismol tablets in my cabinet, and i wanna take some, they're the swallow kind, not chewable.

but the experation on the side says...

"EXP MR 09"

does that mean march of 2009? and if so, can i still take them? is it okay?

Answers:

I'm going to speak from personal experience, cause I took the chewable cherry flavoured tablets of pepto bismol, and the active ingredient is the same (bismuth).
They had expired about a year before the day I took them, 11 months if I recall correctly, it was half a year ago, but i remember what they did to me.
First my tongue had a black colour on it, just in the middle at first but then it seemed to cover the whole top of my tongue, I could brush some off but it never seemed to get back down to the pink, there was always a bit of black.
Then my bowel movements were pure black, and I had intense abdominal discomfort and pain.
I got scared seeing a pure black poop in the toilet, I'm talking like oil slick black, so i started googling.
Turns out I gave myself bismuth poisoning, it's nasty, it CAN be caused by taking too much, but it also can be caused by taking old bismuth containing drugs.
I have friends that have taken old pepto and been fine, but I will never do it again.
If you do take them, I hope you're okay like some of my friends are, I'm not sure if I'm a rare case or not, but that's what happened to me so with that in mind I recommend you buy a new pack, it was a 3 day cramp fest for my stomach, and it was not pleasant.

An awful personal experience that lasted 3 days.
