Do you think that Social Security (old age insurance) established by the New Dea!

Question: Do you think that Social Security (old age insurance) established by the New Deal is important enough...?
that the federal government should still be doing it?

Answers:

I believe the original plan was well intentioned and obviously in many cases the only life support many senor citizens have. When looking to the past, the people ( government) who established the Program are the same people ( different time ) that have stolen from the reserves and have left it in the sad shape we currently see. Going forward, at least in the foreseeable future, there will continue to be a need to maintain the program. However, I believe we all know the program ( benefits ) must be changed. The current plan simply is unsustainable. Its my belief that are younger workers must understand the amount of expected benefits in the future will be greatly reduced. This stresses the point that each individual MUST prepare them self for retirement and not expect someone one else to step forward. Simply, not going to happen.

Yes it's very important in our country. Ideally the average american would be making enough money to put aside for investment and savings. Unfortunately we are dependent on the companies we work for to pay us enough to plan for our future. This can be funded by deleting the cap we have on social security withholding. All of the average americans wages are taxed. However anyone making over something like $125,000 are no longer taxed.

We should have reparations to people who were discriminated against in the workplace. In addition to social security. People who could not
find work because people came from other countries and got jobs
instead of the locals.

There is only one problem facing SS that is Communism, in America, they the communist kill the old people, the criple the lame, the small, the undesirable, etc, etc,
When we stoop that low then will America die

Its a good thing if you do it right, however the amount taxed is not enough to cover the amount spent anymore, making it pointless.

The only people it helped is those who retired in the 1930s, when it first started.
