I want to stop smoking now! Whats a good way to quit?!

Question: I want to stop smoking now! Whats a good way to quit?
I dont smoke all day but I smoke everyday...usually at night. I just started smoking again after I had my son. I'm not sure if I really crave it but when I see my husband go out for a smoke, I want to go too! Its becoming a really bad habit. I hate how it smells and I hate having the smell on me. But I just can't seem to quit, its like a routine I have a night. Any suggestions?? Tell me, does it mess up my teeth, make me gain weight? Just give me some good knowledge on cigarettes that would make me less interested. Thanks!

Your avatar looks really cute, but I don't smoke, and girls who smoke are a lot less attractive to me.
In fact, I would definitely avoid them. Smoking cause lung cancer, heart disease, and other problems that will make you age really quickly. You will be old and wrinkled much sooner.

Look at: http://www.ivillage.com/quit-smoking-0/4…

And google "effects of smoking" for more information.

I know attractive women smokers who hit the wall much sooner than they should have. It's really sad. :(

It seems crazy, but you know what works pretty well?

NOT BUYING CIGARETTES, OTHERWISE YOU'LL DIE!
Not a good enough reason?

Also, shooting your husband in the face if HE doesn't quit would help. You might have to shoot him several times though because cigarettes can be pretty addictive.

If that doesn't work, well, a side effect of smoking is having slightly messy hair on occasion and/or the dreaded hangnail. I know, intolerable, right? *sigh*, the mentality of smokers, I tell ya.

Smoking is bad in general. I think the only way is to not think about it, maybe tell you husband how you're feeling so he doesn't smoke it front of you all the time. Maybe you both need to stop together. Maybe you could get some of that gum? I'm not sure about it though.

They cause serious health issues for you and your family. Second hand smoke is more harmful for your child, pets, ETC

It's a nasty habit and you need support and will power to kick the addiction

Ya--it messes up your teeth. Wait til you have smoked for 25 or more years. You may not then have cancer yet, but you will sound like Snuffleupagus and you will be a baritone, not a soprano and your grand kids will make fun of you. Quit now. Cold turkey

well when I first quit I did it cold turkey, but I first tried nicoret gum/patches
now days I think if I had to quit again I would just try the electronic cigarettes I guess its worth a shot

A former boyfriend of mine was able to quit a 30 year habit with this formula I got him (I was allergic to his chain smoking and wound up in the ER so he decided to quit)

What's more,he had no cravings for 5 days which stunned me as when I quit a 3 pack a day habit decades ago cold turkey, I had continual cravings & now they put that extra addicting chemicals in there so the formula must be good

There are more suggestions on quitting smoking naturally in the reference book healthy healing by Linda Page

I was stunned at just how horrible it smelled& how it lingered on everything after I quit. In fact it now makes me deathly ill if anyone is smoking around me I remember getting offended when a sister in law said not to smoke back when it was not socially unacceptable & most everyone smoked because it got in the drapes/furniture as I could not smell it till after I quit to that extent. I thought she was making it up or being picky. Imagine my surprise when I saw how it really was after quitting I felt bad.

It stains teeth but more importantly, it kills. My dad died a horrible death from lung cancer from smoking two years after he finally was able to quit. Alas too late we lost this wonderful man way before his time Many times I have missed him & that my children didn't know or barely remembered him.

It also contributed to my favorite uncle's death from cancer My aunt lost her husband & a son within 6 months causing much suffering to him/her and their families.Emphysema got another of his brothers. They all began smoking back when noone knew how bad it was & all died before their time causing hardship/grief to their families, robbing them of maybe years of life/events

Noone meant to cause it-- they just didn't realize how dangerous it was to them and to their families..we didn't know what we do now-& like most smokers had a hard time quitting. It is not just a routine/habit, It is physically & psychologically addictive. they say it is harder to quit than heroin, you will be proud of yourself when you quit looking back those times you think about it. Thus I am shocked at how easily this boyfriend quit such a long standing habit with the herbal formula I linked to (herbpharm avena licorice)

Also the 2nd hand smoke and even third hand smoke (smoke that remains in furniture) all kill & harm health & could cause your son harm as 2nd hand is more deadly than 1st hand. I remember coughing/hacking all through my childhood but never realized till I was grown that it came from my dad's smoking

Many diseases are made worst by smoking but a pretty fast recovery so quit right away Think of your son and his &health & how he might feel should you fall prey to the ravages of tobacco &cancer like so many, Do not delude yourself that it would not happen to you,

Some people do gain weight when quitting but counterbalance this by eating more vegan & raw foods &some exercise-helps lose weight & improve health,

It is great you are seeking positive change just keep improving. If you gain a little weight the benefits gained (not to mention money) will FAR outweigh that. Once the habit is broken eat more raw vegan whole foods & less cooked and animal products to lose any weight you might have gained in quitting but just cause some people gain weight, they all don't so no excuses.

The best way to quit smoking is to really want to & keep trying Never give up. My brother tried many times to quit as did my dad but they all quit eventually cause they did not give up unfortunately it came too late for my dad but my brother is going to not follow the pattern of other men in family cause he kept trying. He finally did it with hypnosis

I would definitely get this product to aid your will power

You took the most important step wanting to quit-- write all the reasons you should & all the benefits of doing it Read it often to help motivate you.. You need to have a talk w/hubby too, and present him with data on the dangers of 2nd hand smoke on any kids you have & on others around him.

When I got radiation for breast cancer, I well remember 3 older women in the waiting room & their visible pain who had lung cancer yet never smoked a day in their lives but they husband inadvertently killing their wives A 4th lady would be wheeled there in a bed begging and screaming not to get the radiation. It stuck with me...this is the side noone sees.It is not just a bad habit but a deadly one
both of you need to quit it will be very hard if he smokes around you I have breathing problems when around it as do others I really hope you are successful and I am going to say a prayer for you, your husband & family after I finish typing as this is very important. Had you watched a family member you loved dearly suffer w/lung cancer like I did how that affected his wife & 6 kids, you'd

know why I want you to quit My dad didn't want to die young. He felt terrible as he did not want to leave my mom with 6 kids& leave any of us, he just couldn't quit either. finally he did but too late.

Think of these words &your son,you and the many who suffered from the effects of smoking. Each person that quits help themselves & others who are innocent bystanders. You can do you must do it..this is far more important than teeth & weight gain. Make that lists today. Also be sure there are no cigarettes in the house when you are quitting, Avoid being around your husband for a while as this messed me up when I was trying to quit having smokers around me.
I remember my cousin making fun of my cough & thinking somethign was wrong with me.I wasn't old enough to make the connection w/my dad's smoking & my coughing. You think of your son when you get cravings-see him increasing his risk of cancer/breathing problems.Sometimes we can do for our kids what we can't do for ourselves
