Why do people believe in homeopathy?!

Question: Why do people believe in homeopathy?
It's been proven, through chemical analysis, that there is not a single molecule of active ingredient in homeopathic "remedies", so why do people continue to buy these placebos?

Answers:

I suspect some people don't actually know that they contain nothing; they are allowed to list ingredients.

People put a lot of stock in personal experience. If it "worked" for them before, they're not easily persuaded that it's just a placebo.

"As you wish."

Problem with all science, it doesn't look beyond 'measurable', which is a problem in life, since nearly all doctors can tell you, sometimes 'miracles' will happen, which aren't really miracles, they're 'unmeasurable' circumstances, so even though it can't be proven, it's not necessarily placebos.

Now I wouldn't fully bank on any homeopathy if I had a serious illness, but as a supplement, again most doctors will tell you, we might not be able to measure it, but it works for a lot of people.

The latest study showed the placebo effect from homeopathics when compared to conventional medications was about even. More studies would show that the placebo effect from pharmaceutical drugs was actually higher because of the belief factor in the average person who has also been bombarded with advertising.
200 years of successfully curing millions of patients, 25,000 volumes of cured clinical cases, at least 200 positive modern studies...
People use homeopathy because it works.

Because humans by nature are far from logical. Look at religion.

Edit: No, David. There is NO credible evidence showing it works. SJW is not homeopathic.

@ Neil: "Problem with all science, it doesn't look beyond 'measurable"

Once people start with the "science can't measure" and "there are other ways of knowing" you might as well stop the conversation there. Note that it isn't just a case of science being unable to measure homeopathy or explain how it works *homeopathy has NEVER worked beyond placebo in any decent trial*

Homeopathy is very clearly bunk.

Nate...my stomach hurts...can you be my hot water bottle?

not true. there is a body of evidence and knowledge to prove homeopath meds work. you do have to able to separate the junk from the real stuff. this can be difficult. i know st. john,s wort works. i,ve tried homeopathic sinus meds that do relieve congestion without weird side effects that you can get from otc meds. you,ve got to do your homework.

Homeopathy also gained quite a reputation during the 1918 flu pandemic. Raymond Seidel, HMD (homeopathic medical doctor), decided to be a homeopathic doctor during the 1918 flu epidemic when he was a 10-year-old delivery boy for a local homeopath. He said, "I saw that the people who were taking aspirin were dying, about half those who were drinking a lot were dying, and those that received homeopathic remedies were living."

"Yes, Doctor, stop aspirin and go down to a homeopathic pharmacy, and get homeopathic remedies." The Doctor replied: "But that is homeopathy." "I know it, but the homeopathic doctors for whom I have nursed have not lost a single case." ~W. F. Edmundson, MD, Pittsburgh
