Tylenol 3 With Codeine? Help?!

Question:

Tylenol 3 With Codeine? Help?

I used to take 10mg Of vicodin for pain. Now I was prescribed 30mg of codeine. (Tylenol 1)

How is this differen't? I take 60mg of codeine (2pills) at a time, and still it seems more weak than 10mg of vicodin.

Is vicodin more effective?

60mg Of codeine is supposed to be equal to 10mg of vicodin my doctor said. Is this true?

Answers:

When breaking down the poppy into it's various components, one ends up with two potent pain killers, a large amount of codeine, and a small amount of morphine.

Tylenol 3 contains the relatively weak (by comparison) codeine.

After breaking down the codeine and morphine, one can put either substance through an oxidation procedure, creating oxycodone (the main ingredient in oxycontin, or "hillbilly heroin"), and oxymorphone (a substance much more potent than heroin, known commercially as "fentanil").

One can also but the substances through a less complex procedure, creating hydrocodone (the main ingredient of vicodin) and hydromorphone ("heroin").

The vicodin you are used to contained hydrocodone, a substance that is generally accepted to be roughly 10 times more potent than codeine alone.

If you are used to taking vicodin (which comes in 5mg, 7.5 mg, or 10mg tabs) you will need to take codeine in equivalence to your vicodin use to produce similar effect, meaning that 50-100mg of codeine should take care of you.
