What is the proper way to fast?!

Question:

What is the proper way to fast?

What are the benefits of a 5 day fast? What is the proper method of fasting (no food, only water and teas)? And more importantly, how do you "break" a 5 day fast?

Answers:

The reasons, benefits and results from fasting can be different for each person, depending on their health. Mainly the digestion gets a rest and it can start the detoxing process. Some people report more energy and clearer thinking.

You can get better benefits from a fast if you prepare your body for it first by eating fresh fruits, vegetables and some fresh made juice (fruit and veggie) only for at least 4 days before your fast.

There is no proper method of fasting.... it's more a preferred method as some people will fast with water only, some with water and herbal teas and some with water and diluted fresh fruit juice. Either way will give the digestion a rest and start the cleansing process.

But just so you know, if you are doing it for cleansing purposes, 5 days will not cleanse very much. But it does start the process and in today's world it's always good to give your system a rest.

Break the fast with an apple the first morning after. Be sure to chew it well because this is the first stage of digestion. If you don't break it down in your mouth, your stomach will have a very difficult time. If you want, wait a while (couple hours?) and have another apple. Apples are gentle, have fiber and plenty of enzymes for easy digestion. For lunch have juice and a small salad and dinner some cooked veggies. Remember your digestion hasn't been working for 5 days so you want to ease back into eating. If you eat junk food right away, you could feel pretty sick.

I hope this helps.
