I'm taking levothyroxine to treat hypothyroidism-- does it make anyone else very!

Question:

I'm taking levothyroxine to treat hypothyroidism-- does it make anyone else very irritable?

Answers:

Yes. It does to me. You should be getting blood tests to check your TSH levels (tells you how well your medication is working) every 3-4 months. If the TSH level is at the low end of the range (like 1.1-2.0) it can make you more irritable that when the TSH test results are showing your thyroid running in the 3.5-4.0 range. Get a TSH blood test from your doctor and find out if he will lower the dose of levothyroxine if you are running on the low end of the range.
