I can taste sick in the back of my throat and mouth but am never sick, why?!
Question: I can taste sick in the back of my throat and mouth but am never sick, why?
Answers:
The opening to your stomach may be weak so it doesn't close properly and the contents of your stomach can travel back up your throat. Do you get bad acid with it, a burning feeling in your stomach or chest. Could otherwise be heart burn which is when your stomach produces too much acid.
It sounds like you are getting reflux. This is when the contents of the stomach sometimes are pushed back into the oesophageal canal, and the acid taste is because of the presence of stomach acid.
In later life, this can lead to more painful experiences such as 'acid indigestion' or 'heartburn' as it is sometimes called.
Almost all causes for this problem are easily and quickly treated. Do go and see your doctor so you know what is causing it. In the short term... a couple of teaspoons of 'gaviscon' (which can be bought over the counter), should bring almost immediate relief.
