What is better to take? Efexor XL or Zoloft?

Zoloft is a selective sertonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) and Effexor is an (SSRI) plus a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. So it really depends on what chemicals are imbalanced in your brain to know which will work better. Unfortunatly, the only way to tell is through trial and error. If you try Zoloft first and it works than you just need and SSRI if not it means that it isn't the correct medication and you need a different SSRI or you need one for both feel good chemicals such as effexor takes care of. Another way to see if you need a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor is to try Strattera which only does the norepinephrine. Hope this isn't too confusing.
