How long should one practice in a particular yoga program before deciding to sta!

Question:

How long should one practice in a particular yoga program before deciding to starting a teacher training class

I've been practicing yoga off and on for about 6 years. I'm truly in love with this mind/body/spirit connection. I've since left my job in the hospital in nutrition and decided to begin my massage practice again and would like to implement teaching yoga as well. I feel in yoga every person is in their own journey so I should not judge myself. However I have self doubt and wonder since I'm not able to complete some asanas to the full expression should I not start the teaching training program? I've been wanting to do the program for about 3 years and question is the self doubt is part of the journey? Not sure what to do since I feel a good teacher can achieve most postures in the full expression. I do want to take this practice to others. Please help!!!!!!!

Answers:

I practice yoga and think that yoga teachers are there to guide us through the poses showing how to properly allign ourselves and reminding students of breating techniques, etc. I would say that even though you cannot complete some asanas to the full expression that you shouldn't let that hold you back. You have thought about this for a substantial amount of time. Not everyone has the same flexibility as each other. I think yoga is also about expression for each individual. Everyone will not be able to do each pose the exact same way and with the same flexibility and strenght. I think the more you study the greater opportunity you have to grow in your practice! So, I encourage you to start your lessons to become a yoga teacher if you feel ready for the challenge.

Namaste!
