Is Biodermazen safe?!

Question:

Is Biodermazen safe?

Does anyone know 1) If it will actually help acne 2) If all the ingredients are safe. If it is not a good idea to use, what kind of supplements should I take, if any? I drink as much water as I can a day, and nothing topical makes my acne completely go away. The list of ingredients are:

DMAE
Dandelion root
Aloe vera leaf
Witch hazel leaf
Apple cider vinegar
White willow bark
Milk thistle
Alpha lipoic acid

Topical treatments only work to an extent. Trust me I have tried prescriptions, Proactive, Acnefree, Stridex, and the list goes on... I get cystic acne around my chin/mouth area, esp. during PMS time, it is absolutely disgusting.

And I REFUSE to go on the pill, so PLEASE don't throw that suggestion at me. I have already been on it and it does nothing for acne... At least for me it doesn't.

If anyone has any insight into this product, or ones like it, answers would be greatly appreciated.

I guess this extra info may help - I am 5'6" and about 110-115 pounds, I stay away from saturated fats, I go for whole grain bread, etc when it comes to that kind of stuff, no trans fats, overall I eat pretty healthy but could probably eat more fruits/veggies, but other than that I haven't eaten fast food in years and try my best to eat a healthy diet (hence my weight). If anything I am probably a little underweight, that is just genetics though I'm guessing since everyone in my family is in good shape. I have been like this since I was a teenager (I am 22 now) If anything my acne got a little better when I was on Ortho-lo, but I wanted to get away from that because it is potentially dangerous (I was desperate). I am now back to how I was during highschool acne-wise, the only difference is I am not running track anymore (my exercise is minimal, which I am planning on doing more of soon). I don't know what else to put, if you could get back to me that would be great, esp about DMAE.

Okay, let's take these ingredients and your condition one at a time. I'll start w/ the herbs, which I know best. Dandelion root is going to strongly interface w/ your liver and gall bladder, and will cause them to discharge any toxins they may be holding onto, which is appropriate in a skin condition. It is also a diuretic, so you may find yourself having to go to the bathroom more often, depending upon how much dandelion is actually in the supplement and how much you're taking of it. Dandelion is strongly nutritive, strongly medicinal and non-toxic, so don't worry about it. It could however, in the short term actually aggravate your acne if it causes you liver/gall bladder to throw off toxins/discharge too quickly. Truly, the only way out is thru, and when your body is done discharging, your skin will look much better, provided you don't keep putting the same old crap into it. Don't worry about any of the other ingredients either. The worst thing that could happen w/ aloe is that you could get some diarrhea if the concentration of it is high enough in the supplement. Aloe is highly cooling in the body, which is just what you need. The milk thistle again is going to primarily interface with the liver, and when someone has cystic acne as you do, you WANT the liver to discharge all the crap that's in it and then to cool and heal and rebuild it at a cellular level, as the silymarin in the milk thistle and the aloe will help to do. The witch hazel, apple cider vinegar, white willow bark are all astringent herbs and will help tonify and clarify your condition and your skin. The white willow bark will also have the additional effect of helping with any pain you might be having as a result of the cystic acne. Alpha lipoic acid is an EFA, an essential fatty acid. It may help, it may not, especially if your liver and gall bladder are so clogged that you're not digesting fats well or at all. I am unfortunately not terribly "up" on DMAE. I believe I have read some accounts of it harming the liver, but I'm not sure about that, so I'll do some research and get back to you on that one. I do remember it as a very strong medicine against free radical damage. I'm actually surprised there's no yellow dock in this formula.

Some other things: The area of your face that you state is breaking out corresponds to sexual organs (chin and around the mouth) and LI (Large Intestine)(the lips) in Chinese Medicine. Cystic acne is often about systemic toxins and a lousy diet. It is truly an expression of the body being completely "toxed out". How much MacDonald's, other fast food, beef, pork, pizza, cheese, eggs are you eating? Systemic acne can also be a sign of PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) in women and of a hormonal imbalance, usually that of your testosterone level being way too high, but not always. Wherever you see red, the body is too hot and too yang. Wherever you see raised, red pimples you're again talking about an entire body out of balance and the need to way cool the system down and rebalance it. Systemic acne can also be a sign of allergy to eggs and beef, especially, and to dairy as well, altho' one usually sees lots more white heads/boils when a person is eating too much dairy. Your fire is way too high! The skin is essentially an expression of what is going on within the being/body, not just an out of the blue event that just happened to "happen to you". As it is said, garbage in, garbage out. What are you eating, girl?

For you to take this supplement, but to do nothing about changing your diet, lifestyle, internal climate is really a waste of money and time. You would only be treating symptoms, and not the cause. You essentially cannot do one without the other, b/c you will then be doing what you've always done and expecting a different result, which is the definition of insanity. You don't state your age, but baby, it's time to clean up your lifestyle, I think your body's been telling you this for some time.

Anything green--broccoli, asparagus, salad every single day of your life, spinach, chard, alfalfa, spirulina, chlorella, zucchini, green beans--all are your best friends. They will cool your body, clear your skin, your intestines, your mind, tonify your liver/gall bladder, rebuild your blood. Soy, if you are not allergic to it and have no underlying thyroid issues would also be really, really good for you. You want to bring your diet in from the extremes, that is avoid red meat, sugar, white flour, drugs and alcohol like the plague and concentrate on grains, beans, vegetables, fruits and fish for a long time, as in years. I left out nuts and seeds and poultry b/c they all can be very difficult for a person w/ liver/gall bladder issues to digest. Wheat can also be too hot for folks discharging like you are and will be for awhile to come. Do not be surprised if you change your diet and get really sick, probably as fall goes into winter or as winter goes into spring (even more likely). This is a good sign, and you want to let yourself get good and sick, to let it all out, to let the discharge really "rip" so to speak. You will be a different person afterwards and in the years to come if you conciously work on cleaning up your diet and your body. Fresh juices would be an excellent idea for you as well.

Take a look at other suffers of cystic acne. You will find they go on to have heart disease, cirrhosis, sometimes hepatitis, continued really bad skin, diabetes, much higher than normal rates of strokes, and much higher rates of things like bowel, kidney and liver cancer, as well as getting really serious infections. Many of the women have menstrual/menopause issues (like horrendous cramps and difficulty getting pregnant at times and torrential hot flashes that are more like power surges as well as increased rates of bowel, uterine, ovarian and breast cancers.

Your body is trying to get you to listen and to change. Please hear it.
