Is Thyme tea safe for infants?!

Question:

Is Thyme tea safe for infants?

My 5 month old has a nasty cough, and I know thyme tea is supposed to be a good, natural remedy for chest congestion, coughs, etc. Her father wants to give her tea... he is, afterall, an expert in herbalism after skimming through one book on the subject (note the sarcasm)... but I am dubious as to whether or not it's safe to give an infant. Any info would be appreciated.

Answers:

I would suggest the doctor first. She is, after all, only 5 months old. Thyme tea may be fine for adults, who are responsible for their own health, but she is just a baby. The tea may not be good for her, in fact, could make her very sick. Even OTC's and prescriptions have children's warnings on them. What is fine for an adult, can harm a child. (Note the concern). Take her to the doctor.
