Natural ways to reduce inflammation...?!

Question:

Natural ways to reduce inflammation...?

Here's the problem (or problems)... I have tendonitis in both my ankles and I believe I have it in both my wrists too (either that or it's carpal tunnel). I have also recently noticed a lot of popping in my jaw (believed to be due to TMJ). I'm almost certain that if I find some way to reduce/prevent inflammation that it would help all of these problems. I've already done some research but I thought maybe someone else might be in a similar situation and/or would already know what works. I want it to be as natural as possible (eg. organic foods), and I don't want to take any pills or go through any type of medical procedure. Any suggestions/comments/questions are welcome.. thanks.

Answers:

Hi Denee! Well, I have recently been through the gamut with my doctor about carpal tunnel and a knee injury, (or at least that is what I thought it was). In the past I have been on the Macrobiotic Diet and felt wonderful. It's very restrictive, however, and I found myself eventually adding foods that were not on the diet. I went into a bit of a tailspin and found that carpal tunnel and elbow and knee pain were plaguing my everyday life. Then I began to have headaches, and ankle weakness. My doctor told me that I had some form of inflammation in my tendons and that I may need surgery. That was a month ago.

For the last five days, I've gone back to the Macrobiotic Diet and started eating according to the principles that I learned over three years ago. To my amazement, my knee doesn't hurt at all, my breathing has improved, (I didn't notice that it had become difficult), my ankles don't hurt anymore and my carpal tunnel is becoming less severe.

So, I would suggest a change in diet. The Macrobiotic Diet balances the body and brings it back to the center by applying natural principles that aid the body in ridding itself of the toxins which cause pain and swelling, not to mention weight gain, heart disease, and cancer. I'll suggest a couple of books that will help you get started and I'll send you the website information for the Kushi Institute. You will eat whole grains, vegetables and some fruits & seeds. All of these foods should be either organic, or at the very least, "in season". You will be eliminating any meat, dairy, sugar and refined flours. You won't be eating much bread either. You'll need to stay away from any of the "Nightshade" family, egg plant, potatoes, tomatoes, etc as they can enhance the painful condition. If you want to email me, please feel free. I'll help in any way I can.

Best of luck and I hope this helps you as it has helped me.
