Can some essential oils be used directly on the skin?!

Question:

Can some essential oils be used directly on the skin?

I have read that most oils must be added to a carrier oil to be used on the skin, however, I was curious to know if there are some that can be used directly?

Answers:

Yes, there are some essential oils that can be used on the skin 'neat'. You would just use drops and I am curious why you want to put them on the skin without a carrier. Every awful thing that I have heard of someone doing with essential oils was done by someone who thought they knew what they were doing. No surprise there... ! I am the sole operator of a mail order essential oil company. I get oils on my skin all the time with no ill effects. To be safe, you should educate yourself about the cautions and contraindications before you use any oil. Tea Tree and Lavender officinalis are generally recognized as safe for using neat on the skin. Until you are more savy about essential oils, don't use them 'neat'.
