Basically, embryonic stem cells are "bred" in the lab. They must be harvested within days, before they are grown to produce the numbers that are required for research, and potentially for medical applications.

I'm not sure that any come from aborted foetus'. This has been a highly controversial area, the use of embryonic stem cells, regardless of the source. If you're interested in the controversy itself, there is an explanation towards the end of the above article.



Yea, I was wondering that. One report I saw said the cells come from the babys umbilical cord but another one said they came from babies; i.e. babies were slaughtered ror them.
