Any tips for coping with chronic fatigue syndrome/ME?!

Question:

Any tips for coping with chronic fatigue syndrome/ME?

I've been diagnosed with chronic fatigue/ME following a nasty bout of glandular fever.

Just wondered if anyone out there had found anything helpful, either by way of nutrition or supplements?

No advice on any therapies, please, as got this covered!

Many thanks for your help.

DILBERT: your answer reveals your ignorance. Many doctors as well as specialists now acknowledge that ME, or chronic fatigue syndrome, does indeed exist, and has a distinct set of symptoms; in addition, they are currently trialling an anti-viral drug which seems to be helping greatly. If you have nothing helpful to say, don't bother answering the question!

Everyone else: thank you SO much for your time and help, much appreciated, and the dietary advice is great.

Answers:

Optimum nutrition and lots of fluids are essential for you right now. Your body needs the nutrients for healing, and you must combat dehydration with fluids. Beyond that, you must remember to rest BEFORE you get tired. If you are having a "good" day, resist the temptation to overdo things. The highly respected Cleveland Clinic has nutrition guidelines for CF sufferers that includes enriching your diet with antioxidants and taking a multivitamin. Their detailed recommendations are in the attached link. http://www.clevelandclinic.org/health/he...

Meanwhile, for skeptics like Dilbert, take note: The top federal public health agency, Center for Disease Control, has unequivocally declared that Chronic Fatigue is real, and that it affects four times as many women as men. "People genuinely are suffering and there are things we can do to genuinely help them," says Dr. Julie Gerberding, who heads the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). "And we need to take this seriously as a real illness for a lot of people."

Harvard Medical School professor, A. Kamaroff M.D. discussed the erroneous notion that CFS is a figment of patients' imaginations and stated: "In my view … that debate should be over." (Quote attached: http://www.webmd.com/news/20061103/cdc-c...
