If you mean hyperthyroidism, yes, there are medicines to help with it, or sometimes they remove (or kill off with radiation) part of the thyroid so you produce less thyroid hormone. It's called Grave's Disease, the current president Bush's mother had it.
It is not simply faster metabolism, that's part of it, but it also leads to bone loss, high blood pressure, pressure on the optic nerve causing moderate to severe loss of eyesight, can lead to aneurism, weakened heart muscle leading to heart failure. osteoporosis, or possible severe emotional disorders.
If you haven't been tested for thyroid levels, and you think that might be the cause of your symptoms, please see a doctor and have some thyroid tests done. If you do have hyperthyroidism, and it is left untreated, it could kill you.
