Starting cinnamon supplement...?!

Question:

Starting cinnamon supplement...?

I am soon going to start taking a cinnamon supplement. I'm looking for any advice or input on the subject. I am going to start taking it in hopes of it helping to level my blood sugar levels since I have been previously diagnosed with insulin resistance.

My main question is: How do I know how much to take? I am going to be purchasing the capsules in a vegetarian form (no gelatin capsules) so I've been researching where to purchase it from. The thing is... the capsules depending on brand contain anywhere from 200/350/500/605 mg each capsule. And almost all of the brands say to take at least 2 or more capsules per day. So... there is absolutely no consistency between the brands on how much to take.

Your thoughs...? I am leaning towards purchasing the 605mg capsules. I can get a 350 capsule bottle for $24.95 and the directions say to take 2 per day with a meal. So that is 175 servings... or a nearly 6 month supply for a good price. I will be taking 1210mg per day...

Thank you for your thoughts, "The One..."

As for not just adding regular "table cinnamon" to my diet... I find it difficult. I am currently on a low-carb diet and have run out of ideas to try it on. Besides in my coffee and on cottage cheese... Any other suggestions that are low-carb, fairly low-fat and also vegetarian in nature? I love cinnamon... but I highly doubt pouring it down my throat directly would be a wise decision...! :) Any thoughts welcome...!

Answers:

Hi there! I have insulin resistance TOO! Sucks! lol...but we'll get through it...I take 2 capsules before meals..to allow it to get in there and do it's work! :) If you aren't getting relief you should increase it... just listen/watch how your body reacts and alter accordingly.

GOOD LUCK!! :) And AGREE with poster above who mentioned NOW Brand (www.thecatalog.com or www.nowfoods.com). This is the brand my doc uses and it's high quailty, not expensive, and found at most large grocery stores...vitamin shops!
