This is a probiotic product but with only one strain of bacteria. It is an important one (bifidobacterium infantis) but there are others that might be almost as effective and important to take in conjunction.
Other companies have been making probiotic supplements with this bacterium for several years. One is Dr. Ohira (about $28 to $32 for 30). It has several advantages: It is enteric coated so it dissolves only in the intestine, not in the stomach; It has FOS, to feed the friendly bacteria while it is getting established; It has 12 strains of bacteria (not just one). I work in a natural foods store and have heard numerous testimonies from customers about how probiotics have helped them tremendously - and not just w/ problems in the gut but also ears, skin, etc.
