How do you relieve the sting of a fire ant?!
Question:
How do you relieve the sting of a fire ant?
Everytime one of them even touches my skin I get a fire like sting and a little bump.
Answers:
Hi Rey c, yes all correctly, fire ants inflict a fiery sting. After several hours a small white blister or pustule will form at the site of each sting. The blisters become itchy and are prone to infection if broken. So try real hard not to scratch them open.
First that you can do - wash the area with soap and water, to rid the skin of any venom on it.
Second - disinfect the area with alcohol. and apply some ice to the area to relieve the swelling and pain..
Commercial products such as StingEze, calamine lotion, etc., will numb the area for a while. Or for an organic fire ant bite treatment, a thick paste of baking soda and water, or bleach and water, can reduce the pain and itching.
Spraying a topical (cortisone) or taking a systemic (oral) antihistamine (like Benadryl) will help prevent allergic reactions and swelling.
Check with the doctor if you have allergic reaction, swelling, or itching which does not answer a treatment to avoid serious injury.
