What is ginkgo biloba?!

Question:

What is ginkgo biloba?

Answers:

Gingko biloba is an herbal supplement that is sold over-the-counter mainly to increase mental acuity. The elderly generally take gingko to help improve their memory. Gingko causes vasodilation, which opens the blood vessels, and improves oxygen circulation throughout the body. It also helps with glucose utilization (turning sugar into energy). However, it also acts as a blood thinner, because it inhibits platelet aggregation, and should be used with caution in people on anticoagulant (Coumadin, Warfarin) or acetaminophen (aspirin) therapy.
