I'm thinking about starting a career in massage and I would like to know what to!

Question:

I'm thinking about starting a career in massage and I would like to know what to look for in a massage school?

I'm interested in the opinion of current students and massage therapists as to what aspects I should look for in a school. Can anyone recommend a specific school and why? And what can I expect after graduation? I hear that this field has a high burn-out rate (most masseuses quit after 2 years) and I am curious as to why this is and if any of you professionals have experienced this. How do I know that a career in massage is right for me? What character qualities do employers look for and where are some of the best places to look for jobs? Any help answering any one of my questions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for taking your time to read this!

Answers:

check www.naturalhealers.com for schools in your area. the only way to pick one is to go and visit them. you'll know when you find the right one.
most schools have job placement assistance. they will help you with finding your first job.
the high burn-out rate is due to therapist using poor body mechanics and doing too many massages per day. a good school will teach you proper body mechanics.
why do you want to be a massage therapist? for the money? if so, it's not for you. if you want to help people, then you'll be well suited.
good luck in your pursuit.
