Rhodiola ???!

Question:

Rhodiola ???

Any one have any thing good or bad to say about using Rhodiola AKA artic root, golden root and rose root to treat PCOS symptoms?

Answers:

PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) is very common in women who are estrogen-dominant and/or have an overproduction of adrenalin. It is also a well-known fact that hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils can upset the balance of healthy/unhealthy fatty acids ratio, creating therefore the foundation for detrimental consequences linked to the synthesis of several gonadal or sex hormones in women.

Because Rhodiola is a powerful antiadrenergic (inhibit secretion of adrenalin), it is used as a hormone regulator in PCOS, though further research is necessary at the moment.

TIPS TO HORMONAL BALANCE:
Wherever you may be in your life’s journey, three guidelines will profoundly enhance ongoing health and hormonal harmony:

1. SUPPORT YOUR LIVER
The liver plays a major role in the proper metabolizing of hormones, especially estrogen. Liver-loving foods include broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, beets, garlic, lemons, artichokes and asparagus. Liver-loving herbs include milk thistle, dandelion root and turmeric.

2. NOURISH YOUR ADRENAL GLANDS
The adrenals influence hormonal balance, immune health, digestion, blood sugar balance, blood pressure, inflammation control and mineral balance. Your adrenals are nourished by vitamin C, vitamin B5 (best taken in a B-complex formula), cod liver oil--though I prefer Flaxseed oil--and magnesium. The adaptagenic herbs, such as ashwaganda (Withania somnifera), Rhodiola rosea and maca root (Lepidium meyenii), provide excellent adrenal support.

3. STRENGTHEN YOUR DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
A strong digestive system ensures that your body will readily absorb your food. Digestive-strengthening foods include yogurt, kefir, unpasteurized apple cider vinegar, sauerkraut and miso. Digestive enzymes are also helpful.

Good luck! :)
