Burock is a blood cleanser. It supports liver function as does milk thistle. I assume when you say drinking, you're talking about a tincture. That's only a few drops and you can take it pretty much any time.
You can also grow burdock yourself and harvest the roots. I run the roots through a salad shredder and add it to salads. As long as the soil its grown it doesn't have a lot of sulfur, burdock root has an earthy and sweet flavor.
