Are there any home remedies to get rid of mosquitos or blackflies?
i don't have any bug spray on hand...is there anything i could use instead?

If you can get your hands on some garlic oil and spray it everywhere there would be mosquitos this works wonders. I actually purchased some from a company a few years back and used it all in my yard. We were flea, mosquito, tick, and mostly bug free all summer after only one application. It did stink for about the first two days after we sprayed, but then the scent eased off and we were still bug free.
The only draw back was that it also repels rabbits, deer, armadillos and several other woodland creatures, but to me that was a small price to pay.
