Glue ear is a painless condition in which thick, sticky fluid collects behind the eardrum. The fluid blocks the middle part of the ear and can cause impaired hearing. It usually affects children and is also known as:

Chronic otitis media with effusion (OME)

Secretory otitis media

Middle-ear effusion

The thick fluid prevents normal movement of the small bones in the middle ear that are necessary for hearing. Glue ear is common in children because of the nature of their eustachian tubes, the tubes that connect the ears with the back of the throat.

Different kinds of fluid may be present behind the eardrum, ranging from a yellow liquid to a thick, white material that resembles glue (hence the name, glue ear).

Left untreated, glue ear can:

Cause temporary hearing loss

Contribute to delayed speech development in young children

Affect a child's behavior and educational progress

In rare cases, cause permanent damage to hearing

I have had it for MONTHS!

Hi Hawaiian Princess

Here are some ideas on how to heal your condition. The garlic or onion recipe on the bottom should resolve your issue.

Causes of Hearing Disorders
Among the most common causes of hearing disorders are allergies, antibiotic and other drug use, the buildup of earwax, infection and inflammation, and chronic exposure to loud noises.

Quick Action Plan for Hearing Disorders

1. Be screened for both food and environmental allergies. A highly effective method for detecting allergies is electrodermal screening (EDS).

2. To eliminate allergies, consider enzyme-potentiated desensitization (EPD).

3. Emphasize a diet rich in organic whole foods, especially plenty of fresh, organic vegetables, along with garlic and onions to boost immunity. Also eat high quality protein foods, such as organic free-range meats, poultry and wild-caught fish.

4. Avoid all foods to which you are allergic or sensitive, and eliminate all commercially processed foods, as well as sugar, refined carbohydrates, alcohol, and caffeine, and all food additives, colorings, and preservatives.

5. Drink plenty of pure, filtered water throughout the day.

6. Useful nutrients for hearing problems include vitamin A, beta carotene, B vitamins, vitamin C, zinc, MSM, and N-acetyl cysteine (NAC). Acidophilus supplements are also recommended to prevent infection and systemic yeast overgrowth (candiasis).

7. Useful herbs include Echinacea, ginkgo biloba, goldenseal, hypericum, and St. John’s wort. Drops of tea tree oil and diluted grapeseed extracts inserted in the ear via an eye dropper can also be helpful.

8. Useful homeopathic remedies include Aconite, Apis mellifica, Belladonna, Chamomilla, Ferrum, phos., Lycopodium, Merc. Sol., Pulsatilla, and Silicea.

9. According to traditional Chinese medicine theory, most hearing disorders are related to imbalances in the kidney meridian system. Rebalancing kidney energies using acupuncture and Chinese herbs can often resolve hearing problems.

Here are some ideas to use to heal the condition.

Treat Both Ears: The simple, old-fashioned aids are sometimes very fast in giving relief. Always treat both ears, even if only one aches.

1.Garlic: When my little girl had an earache I put a piece of fresh garlic in her ear and it was better by morning. The previous alternative was to go to the doctor and pay a lot of money for penicillin.

2. Onion: Lightly bake a large onion, cut it in half and while warm (not hot enough to irritate the area), bind one half of the onion over each ear. Bandage in place and hold bandage on with a nightcap, white skullcap, etc., and leave on all night.

3.Camomile: Use a fomentation over both ears of three parts of camomile and one part of lobelia. Take two ounces orally (a wineglass full) each two waking hours. Leave the fomentation on the ears all night. (Cover fomentation with plastic or oiled silk, etc.).

4. Mullein: Use three to six drops of mullein oil in both ears several times each day. Insert it upon retiring for the night, and, as before, plug the ears with cotton. Place a fomentation over the ears all night of three parts mullein and one part lobelia.
