That's a real good point! These medications are used to suppress distractiveness and keep the person focus. They are heavy! Now a days you hear the term a lot ADHD/ADD, too much. The problem is not the ADHD, the problem comes when a person cannot or is not able to learn, is not doing any progress academically, is at risk of falling a grade, has social problems because no one around can stand their cheerfulness, the others want to listen and follow directions, and is a little annoying to have a person like that around who just want to play or full around. The truth is that is not fair for anybody including the kid who is getting allineated by his peers. I would say that's when a medication is needed along with classroom/home intervention. A lot of kids are medicated just because they are hyoeractive and this worries me, because of the invisible secondary effects these meds. may have on them on the long run. I dont think I answer your question, some and I mean it some kids do need the medication, but in addition other factors must also be taken into consideration such as diet and excercise. Good point.
