Should I double-up on my multivitamin when I'm sick?!

Question:

Should I double-up on my multivitamin when I'm sick?

I have had a cold for three days now. I've been taking the same multivitamin I always take plus a little extra vitamin C. Would it be beneficial for me to just double-up on my multivitamin intake? Why or why not?

If so, should I take both at the same time or at different times during the day?

Answers:

You need to be careful not to get too much of some vitamins which are toxic in high doses, so be sure to read the label on your multivitamin to determine whether you can safely increase the daily dosage or not. Getting extra vitamin C and a lot of liquids is good too.

You might want to try an immune supplement like Immune Alert which is designed to help improve your body's ability to fight off germs. I know Immune Alert (the active ingredient is an extract from baker's yeast) can be taken in higher doses when you are symptomatic and then taken in the regular dose daily to maintain a healthy immune system.

And don't forget chicken soup -- the old-fashioned tried and true cold remedy.
