The B vitamins are essential for good efficient metabolism, especially B6 and B12. Typically a good 1-a-day multivitamin is a good bet since it also contains antioxidants like C and E as well as minerals. Women should also take some supplemental iron since they lose it regularly during their cycle which can lead to mild anemia.
I also suggest dietary considerations too for better energy. I find I am much less sluggish in the afternoons if I eat a healthier lunch. (i.e. grilled chicken salad with fat free dressing rather than a burger and fries). Carbs should also be consumed in small quantities throughout the day rather than a lot at one sitting. Overloading on carbs causes your body to release insulin which very quickly removes sugars from your blood leaving you feeling drained.
