My dog takes Rimadyl for arthritis. Can he also take glucosamine chondrotin (Fla!

Question:

My dog takes Rimadyl for arthritis. Can he also take glucosamine chondrotin (Flavocin, Syn-flex etc.)?

Rimadyl is prescription and is proving effective, but like any medication, I'm told will lose effectiveness if taken too regularly, too long. (Like a human taking a pain killer or muscle relaxant over time, it becomes less effective. So, I would like to alternate or supplement Rimadyl with more natural product. Are there contra-indications to doing this?

Answers:

I did that with my mom's dog. The vet said it was ok I don't think that there were any bad effects but it was hard to tell. The dog had Cushings disease and Canine Cognitive Disorder and chronic colitis in addition to her arthritis so it was rather complicated.
