Ozone as a health benefit?!

Question:

Ozone as a health benefit?

I've heard quite a few different things about ozone. I use an ozone machine to clean the inside of my car frequently, and I've heard from some that it's bad to inhale the ozone put off by the machines.

However, I've also heard from others that it's beneficial, and can be healthful to our bodies (and help to cure colds, etc...). I was wondering what the truth was...?

Answers:

What most people don't understand is that Ozone isn't an irritant, but rather the nasty things that are found along with it in smog and enclosed office areas (like near a laser printer). Ozone on it's own has been shown through published research dating back well over 100 years to increase oxygenation of the blood. There are even "oxygen bars" where you can breath from tubes of air which contain small amounts of Ozone in the mix. It is non-irritating.

Ozone generators may provide less of a benefit because O3 is unstable and may just be plain O2 by the time you breathe it in. That doesn't mean no benefit, but it's likely to be less than if you were in one of the many Ozone therapeutic devices.
