In just about all cases, eating the actual food with the vitamins already in it is MUCH better than taking the condensed vitamin or multi-vitamin itself. Your body is naturally made to digest vitamins found naturally in foods than it is to digest an unnatural pill. Even foods that are fortified with vitamins (like cereals) are a lot healthier to eat than the actual vitamin pill itself.

Also, people taking vitamins tend to overdose on them. Yes, it is possible to overdose on vitamins. It may seem a little ironic, but the same problem that can occur from not getting enough of a vitamin can occur, even two-fold, from getting too much of the vitamin. Too little vitamin A can give you eye problems. Too much vitamin A can give you eye problems. You just have to find a right balance.
