Is there some alternative medicine I can take to combat this problem

I am male and have had a fequency problems since my teens, I have been to my GP and he just tells me to try and hold in ( a little longer each time) which I have tried to do over the years, but if I try to hold it in then it becomes painful.
I don't suffer urinary infections. There is nothing wrong with my prostate.

It's not incontenence. I can mak it to the toilet and I can hold it in (though does become painful

Don't take decongestants or other over-the-counter cold remedies; they can make symptoms worse.

To help reduce urinary complaints, avoid caffeinated and alcoholic beverages, especially beer. Reduce consumption of liquids in the evening.

Check the label carefully when buying so-called Prostate Formulas and other commercial supplement mixtures. Many contain only insignificant amounts of specific prostate-healthy vitamins, minerals, herbs, and other nutritional supplements.

Foods rich in soy may benefit men with prostate problems. Tofu, miso, and other soy products might be helpful.

When taken with saw palmetto, pumpkin seeds (high in zinc and amino acids) have aided in the treatment of BPH.

Zinc/Copper : 30 mg zinc and 2 mg copper a day. Add copper only when using zinc longer than 1 month.

Vitamin E: 400 IU a day. Check with your doctor if taking anticoagulant drugs.

Saw Palmetto: 160 mg twice a day between meals. Standardized for 85%-95% fatty acids and sterols.

Pygeum Africanum : 100 mg twice a day between meals. Standardized to contain 13% sterols.

Flaxseed Oil : 1 tbsp. (14 grams) a day.
Can be mixed with food; take in the morning.

Nettle: 250 mg twice a day. Standardized to contain at least 1% plant silica.

Amino Acids : 500 mg each of glycine, glutamine, and alanine daily. After 1 month, add a mixed amino acid complex.
