Premature graying is defined as gray hair onset before late teens for Caucasians and before age 30 in Africans and Asians, or alternatively 50% or more gray scalp hair before age 50.
There have been testimonies regarding partial restoration of hair color during the long-term use of hydrogen peroxide baths. Head hair color may move slightly away from white toward its earlier color. Men's chest hairs may recover their natural color to a greater degree than head hair.
The following supplements are generally beneficial for hair problems -
Flaxseed Oil : 1 tbsp. (14 grams) a day. Can be mixed with food; take in the morning.
Evening Primrose Oil: 1,000 mg 3 times a day. Can substitute 1,000 mg borage oil once a day.
Zinc/Copper: 30 mg zinc and 2 mg copper a day.Add copper only when using zinc longer than 1 month.
Biotin: 1,000 mcg a day. Can combat excessive oiliness and flaking; take with vitamin B complex.
Vitamin B Complex: 1 pill twice a day with food. Look for a B-50 complex with 50 mcg vitamin B12 and biotin; 400 mcg folic acid; and 50 mg all other B vitamins.
PABA : 100 mg a day. Promotes the health of the skin and scalp.
Selenium: 200 mcg twice a day. Don't exceed 600 mcg daily; higher doses may be toxic.
