I have been researching reiki, and would like to know more about it, for example I understand there are various different types of reiki. I would like to know how reiki could heal, is it for example like faith healing?

Unless the condition for which you seek treatment is amenable to placebo effects, no, reiki does not heal actual, physical or psychiatric illness. Its practitioners may be well-meaning, but sadly, reiki in and of itself is not curative.
