Is massage theropy school hard?!

Question:

Is massage theropy school hard?

I was wondering if anyone has been through, or is going through the classes for massage theropy? And if they classes are hard, do you have to be really book smart on learning the anatomy and things like that?

Answers:

Hi Neva N, if you are considering engaging in a great career in massage therapy, let me compliment you on your selection. Massage is one of the few careers which aids individuals in need, allows flexible hrs, and for those who ambitiously pursue it, opens up the door to a lucrative income.

You'd probably also have to be in relatively good physical condition with strong hands and a good endurance level. If you've ever had a professional massage, you've seen that there's a lot of standing involved and hand manipulation that must surely require a high degree of strength and stamina. Have you ever tried to massage someone for 60 minutes straight? It's certainly not that easy! However, massage school training could very well be perfect for you. Especially if you love working with people and find fulfillment in having a very positive effect on their overall well-being.

Training in massage does not give you the ability to perform treatments on any individual or area of the body. In fact, there are over 100 different types of massage currently being carried out, many of which require specific training or knowledge. For example, an Indian Head Massage is very different from a Swedish Body Massage, and an individual trained in one would not be bale to perform the other without further training. However, if you do not know the specific area of massage you would like to be trained in, undertaking a massage therapy course is possibly the best thing to do as it gives you a basic, and sound, understanding of the body and how massage works. In addition to this you will learn how to perform different massage techniques, and be given an insight into the more specific forms you may wish to go on to specialise in.
