How long do we sleep when we take sleeping pills?!

How long do we sleep when we take sleeping pills?
I just bought sleeping pills and i haven't use it yet, If I took some, do I would be guaranteed that I will have a good 8 hours of sleep? Do I will be easily waken up by sounds, vibrations , etc.
Answers:
If it's prescription medication, you'll generally get a good 6 hours. If you're easily wakened by sounds, perhaps you should get some soft earplugs and try those when you go to sleep.
